Auxiliary
![]() Several members of the MOAA Portland Chapter Auxiliary gather for lunch at Albertina’s Restaurant to discuss their various activities. Mrs. Edie Rieken, who coordinates Auxiliary activities, is second from right. The MOAA Portland Chapter Auxiliary is a relaxed, congenial, unorganized group which enjoys having lunch “out” every other month. The Liaison of the Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee, Mrs. Edie Rieken, says: “We have participated enthusiastically in raising funds for the HUGS project, which provides cooling neckties for our troops in Iraq.” In fact, the MOAA Portland Chapter Auxiliary in 2009 sent a large “Troops’ Care Package” overseas. Mrs. Rieken keeps the Auxiliary members informed via her column in the MOAA Chapter monthly newsletter and handles the luncheon reservations. She also contacts and visits new widows of Chapter members. She says: “Newcomers to our group immediately bond because of the absence of their former military life, and they find so much in common with one another.” You can contact Mrs. Rieken for further information at: 503-254-5029. |
